outworldarts @ 5:12 pm #

@gmchevy000 only about 20 minutes to break in the flat tappit cam.

gmchevy000 @ 5:27 pm #

whats the break in time on a new motor??

outworldarts @ 5:34 pm #

Engine stock 10:1 compression, stock Chevy 11-inch flywheel (doesn’t make much difference believe it or not)

crenshaw502 @ 6:08 pm #

what kind of flywheel and what compression are you running? its sure got some snap into that response and love it :] keep it up man

kevinsaysmoo @ 6:24 pm #

that engine belongs about 5 feet to the left

outworldarts @ 7:18 pm #

You have to break it in either way. But it’s definitely fun to do it this way, too.

blackbill44 @ 7:41 pm #

very nice and an awesome way to break it in before you install it . then you wont have to baby your baby.

DoubleVisionandco @ 7:59 pm #

She sounds sweet. Gotta love the classic 327.

outworldarts @ 8:49 pm #

I don’t have any other pics, but if you look around, you can probably find plans to build your own.

imashaunnotsean @ 9:38 pm #

right on. is there any chance i could get some pictures of it so i could make my own?

outworldarts @ 9:40 pm #

made in the garage with angle iron and a mig welder

imashaunnotsean @ 10:03 pm #

did you fab up this engine stand or is it available from a place like napa

outworldarts @ 10:59 pm #

Try local swap meets from reputable dealers. It’s def. not a cheap hobby.

freshout1313 @ 11:10 pm #

thanks i gotta try to figure out what all has been done to it already where could i find these items at good prices?

outworldarts @ 11:36 pm #

Put in a Comp Cams XE274 camshaft, a set of 1.94 double hump heads, 4-barrel manifold & carb of your choice and headers. That will do it.

what is something i can do to my 327 to beef it up but not tear the motor or my wallet up?

outworldarts @ 12:39 am #

It’s a CompCams XE274, around .490 lift. It’s a stock 300hp motor. You could go with a more radical cam than this..like a XE284..there are tons of others.

gasserized @ 1:22 am #

holy crap ,fella ,that sounds bitchin ,.. any idea wot cam ure using.. ive got a 327 462 heads 11.25 pistons lookig for a nasty cam for street and weekend racing.. oooh that sounds sweet

Man super nice I have a 327 30 over in a 82 camaro that kicking 350s and 383s, I have
84 chevy S10 with tpi 350 40 motor. The 327 blows the door off of it. I had back in the 70s a 65 impala ss 327 30 motor 411 rear had the old girl running low 11s to high 10s this motor love to rev high. I will put the chevy s10 on youtube soon and the camaro all so check out kzkicking on youtube

jbvcw71 @ 3:31 am #

high rod length to stroke ratio. I always liked the way 283′s reved. I have talked with guys that had 301′s. The redline is past what an unmodified valve train can live with. 8500 rpm +
Smokey Yunick was a genious and a big advocate of high bore to stroke ratio engines.
He & his guys made a 2.2″ stroke crank for a 283 & turbocharded it. The result was over 1000hp In a Formula 1 race car & made alot of high priced cars look inferior & silly.
RIP Henry “Smokey” Yunick… God Speed.

ilovemy69camaro @ 3:45 am #

sorry, i meant use the 327 block with the 283 crank and you still get a 301/302. probably my favorite engine of all time.
