Neither of those are valid engine casting numbers.
Go and look at your engine again, and get the correct casting number off it.
Also, on the rear of the engine, there should be a stamp that says 5.0 or 5.7
Pretty obvious…
The first number is the engine i.d. code.
V – Flint engine plant
09 – September
12 – 12th day of the month
DDA – This one’s a little tricky. The DDA suffix code was used for 1983 TBI 305′s and also 1986 TPI 305′s installed in F-bodies (Camaro & Firebird).
Either way, you’re correct. It did not come out of a truck.
V Flint (Engine) plant
09 (9th mo) sept.
12, 12th day
DDA was used on 3 engines
DDA 1983 305 T.B.I. S vin # – – used in pont. Parisien
DDA 1983 305 LU5, twin T.B.I. (crossfire) 7 vin # 165 HP used in camaro Z-28, pont firebird T/A
DDA 1986 305 LB9,190 hp F vin # – TPI Firebird
So it came out of a Parisien, camaro, or firebird
my # on my 350 head is 12j223230v0226ckb can you decode this for me
