New chevy 350 engine with same 305 trans and it hits hard on first and second? kick down cable not hooked up!?
I have a new engine 350 g box in my 85 Chevy Caprice. It originally had a 305 engine. My problem is when the first course it hit pretty hard and the second gear is too heavy, but not so hard to take. should I get a new Tork converter withe them in a higher stall, because I say one performance cam? after the kick-cable is not on the carb but addictive because it carb no hook for it on the Edelbrock! could kick it after the cables are not connected? I thought it only works on the higher gears or is it for each course? If anyone knows gear I would appreciate some help Thanks!

its possible that is not a kick down cable but the shift cable that allows the transmission to adjust shift points and pressure
the only tranny that doesn’t need that cable hooked up on to shift right is the turbo 350 tranny, all the others do, on the turbo 350 it’s just hooked up so you have passing gear.
This transmission is shifted by throttle pressure, the throttle pressure is sent to the trans by the cable, so the cable must be hooked up in order to shift properly. Not only does it have to be hooked up but it has to be adjusted correctly. They should make a linkage adapter for that carb, check with your parts house.
the cable needs to be hooked up. or else it wont work correctly, and since your running car your gonna have to do some work to get the torque converter lockup to work.
