427! Just because I like it! ((O_o))

I would honestly look at specs and see which one has more torque. Seems that would help you from getting stuck more then anything. I think the 409 would have more torque anyway. 427′s were more top end.

um pick one…..but honestly why are u going big block???? and if u are why not 502 ??? or even 572 ???

but for mudding if u want tons of power u should go diesel……..but what do i know ……i only have a ford….LOL

honestly i have a 79 bronco with 351 modified in it……….and a 80 cj-5 with the 4.2 ……….my project truck that i will build one day when i get the money is a w100(that’s dodge) with 360 in it…..

but if i had the money and were going to build a 4×4 i would go diesel…….just my .02

but in ur case would tell u unless u have lots of money stay with the small block the money to make a big block run good with tons of power can b done with half the money in a small block……..

427. Best all around and many more parts available.

Good luck on finding either of them, even if you do, the engine will cost you more than a few seasons muddin. I would suggest just getting something common, a 366 or 454 if you go big block
