heh i just asked this question yesterday except i have a 1970 nova, except i’m building mine for a hot little daily driver, so gas mileage means a hair bit more to me. So in my history with working with LS style motors their isn’t a more efficient swap around. They make more power and get better gas mileage than pretty much any affordable SBC or BBC around. I think i got the motor for you, if you haven’t done business with Pace Performance you’ve missed out.

It has 15 less horsepower and 10 more torque, however it’s a 6.0l LS style more and it is carb set up for easy swap, and the best part is this paticular motor has a mild cam, so a quick cam swap and head rebuild could easily net you 500 or more power without hurting gas mileage much

I definately agree with LS1, Pace Performance is one of the best businesses to buy crate engines from. Their staff, product knowledge, and prices are one of the if not the best businesses for GM oriented performance parts. I just bought a motor from Pace about a month ago to put into my TrailBlazer SS, previous owner tried to run 225 dry shot of nitrous through a stock motor, didn’t end well. I ordered http://paceperformance.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=282707 It is installed now and it runs great however i’m considering turbocharging the bastard since its only 9.5:1 compression and would easily accept 6-8lbs of boost.
